In Proverbs we read (and often quote), “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” In this article, “Bonhoeffer Convinced Me to Abandon My Dream,” the author, Chase Replogle, complements the teaching of Scripture as he reflects on his personal struggle with vision in parish life, and concludes, “The pastor’s first call is not to envision a church but to receive one.” This article has much to offer clergy and clergy wives as we navigate parish life and reflect on the vision/s we may create for ourselves and the parishes we serve.
